The Filipino American League of Engineers and Architects (FALEA Organization) Board of Directors held a special meeting last Friday October 2, 2009 to discuss the organization’s participation in the relief effort for the typhoon victims in the Philippines particularly Ondoy and Pepeng typhoon victims (International name of Typhoon Ketsana and Parma) . All of the officers handed out monetary donations with a matching contribution from the organization’s budget of $ 500 dollars. The grand total cash donation that was sent last December 9, 2009 thru PNB Remittance Centers was $ 2,725 (125,622.50 pesos), and was remitted to ABS-CBN foundation. Monetary donations were preferred over other items such as food and clothes because of the associated shipping cost of the balikbayan box and the work needed to collect sort and organize things. Furthermore, monetary donations will be spent on the most needed items of the receiving foundation. Thank you for all who participated in this relief drive....
